Depending on the size of your event, whether it be an intimate dinner for two or a gala event for thousands, Houmas House offers many unique spaces.
The Pavilion and Courtyard
The Pavilion and adjacent courtyard offer a splendid location for weddings and special events. With 6,300 square feet of floor space, including a dedicated bar, and a ceiling height of 14 feet, the Pavilion offers great versatility.
The Hampton Fountain Court
The Hampton Fountain Court, located at the rear of the mansion, is a 30,000 square foot walled garden, featuring a spectacular 50-foot water-lily pond. The dancing fountain that is the centerpiece of the pond offers a dazzling display of color after dark.
The Grand Lawn
The Grand Lawn that fronts the property offers 7 acres of manicured lawn, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and a reflection pond. A 300-foot oak alley, which leads to the front steps of the mansion, offers a splendid setting for large dinners and events…not to mention, a dramatic aisle for a wedding.
The Carriage House Restaurant
The Carriage House, a space that is both opulent and intimate, is perfect for special celebrations, rehearsal dinners, bridal luncheons and showers. The adjacent green (Animal Trophy) room offers a private setting for dinners.
Neptune Ballroom and Courtyard
The Neptune Ballroom and Courtyard offers a perfect combination for indoor/outdoor events. The 2,500 square foot space houses a Civil War era submarine, a unique piece of American history. The Courtyard features a lily pond and fountain. The Neptune Ballroom and Courtyard is well-suited for weddings, corporate meetings and private dinners.
The Amphitheater
The Amphitheater offers sweeping views of the Great River Road Museum and Japanese Tea House with ambiance courtesy of dancing fountains. This multi-level space is perfect for live music, grand dinners and dancing. The wide open are is great for light shows and fireworks displays.
The Pavilion and Courtyard
The Pavilion and Courtyard are perfect for weddings or events for 150 people or more. Its 6,300 square feet of floor space can accommodate many types of events. This venue also includes a full bar. The courtyard to The Pavilion is available for use during your event. The Turtle Bar sits at the rear of this lawn and can be used with The Pavilion.
The ceiling height is 14 feet throughout the venue. Stained concrete floors provide a smooth surface for receptions with dancing, corporate events or classroom style seminars. The walls are a combination of brick and sheetrock offering a rustic and elegant setting. Large floor-to-ceiling windows offer unobstructed views of the surrounding gardens.
Neptune’s Ballroom and Courtyard
The very beautiful Neptune’s Ballroom and Courtyard are a perfect combination of indoor and outdoor accommodations. The 2,500 square foot Ballroom houses a civil war era submarine, affording a very unique piece of American history to be part of your event. The Courtyard features two lily ponds with fountains. This space is perfect for weddings, corporate and private events and dinners.
The Carriage House
The Carriage House, elegant and intimate, is perfect for corporate parties, wedding rehearsal dinners, ladies luncheons and showers.
The Hampton Fountain Court
The Hampton Fountain Court located at the rear of the mansion offers a spectacular view and a cozy atmosphere. It is a 30,000 square foot walled garden, which features a circular 50-foot water-lily pond with a fountain that dances to entertain and dazzle your guests. After dark, the fountain is lighted for a dazzling display.
The Grand Lawn
The Grand Lawn at the front of the mansion offers nearly 7 acres of manicured lawn, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and lakes. Our allee’ of oaks offers a 300-foot walk for the bride on her special day. Or a dinner for up to 150 people served at one long table under the majestic Cathedral of Oaks.
The Tea House
The Japanese Tea House is surrounded by gardens, a 12-foot waterfall and our version of the bridge from Monet’s Gardens at Giverny, France. The Tea House and hilltop terraces overlooking the Koi pond and bridge are perfect for private events and receptions. This venue offers spectacular views of the gardens.
Latil’s Landing Restaurant
For more intimate gatherings, we offer our fine dining restaurant Latil’s Landing, located in the original French House at Houmas House, which was built in 1773. The original house features four exquisite rooms, each with its own personality. Use one or two or three or all four of the rooms, depending on your group’s size.
The Turtle Bar
The very unique Turtle Bar is inside one of the twin Garconierres, which flank the grand house. The Turtle Bar is located just outside of The Pavillion, on the downriver side of the property.
The Sugar Baron’s Feast
And for that very special one-of-a-kind event we offer the Sugar Baron’s Feast, the only way to experience what it was like to live during the grand days of The Sugar Palace. You and your guests will enjoy a private guided tour of the Houmas House Mansion, ending in the formal dining room with a seven-course dinner with wine pairings.

Houmas House is a historic estate located near New Orleans in Darrow, Louisiana. Open 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm. At Houmas House, visitors can tour the mansion and grounds, stay in the inn, enjoy Louisiana cuisine, and host one-of-a-kind weddings and events.
