Restaurants

Houmas House Estate, one of the South’s oldest and most beautiful plantation estates, is the home of Latil’s Landing Restaurant, The Carriage House Restaurant, The Turtle Bar and The Wine Cellars of Houmas House.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available in both casual and fine dining settings. Just minutes from Baton Rouge and New Orleans, these restaurants have varying menus reflecting traditional Louisiana cuisine. Each menu is updated seasonally to reflect the availability of locally grown produce, providing a true farm-to-table experience. Both tourists and locals enjoy the quaint feeling of the intimate settings each restaurant and The Turtle Bar provide. It’s easy to imagine dining in the 1830’s when using exact replicas of the original china used by General Wade Hampton. Reservations are required for Latil’s Landing and suggested for The Carriage House Restaurant.

A collection of boutique wines have been selected to accompany our Nouvelle Louisiane Menus. The Wine Cellars at Houmas House are as unique as the Plantation itself. The historic water cisterns at the rear of the main house have been converted into handsome “wine cellars.” Inside, the large water tanks have been replaced with cast iron balconies and circular staircases that are used to fetch that specific vintage of champagne or wine. Unique bottle holders are attached to the masonry walls, allowing each label to be read without having to touch the bottle. The white wine cellar is also home to our selection of fine champagnes, it is kept at exactly 56 degrees F. The red wine cellar is kept at 70 degrees F. Over 1000 cases and 500 varietals of wines are housed in these “cellars”. These wonderfully creative spaces are not on the tour, but we would be happy to show them upon request.
**COVID-19 UPDATE**
